Singing with Traci

On the fourth Friday of each month, we welcome Traci to the Green Room for an informal ‘sing-along’. These sessions began in January 2023 because people living with dementia in the area asked for them. Singing groups were the last to start up after the pandemic, and our activity group members were all missing their usual singing and musical activities. Since there was a real need for a musical group in Romsey, Greenbuttercup Dementia Services started a ‘sing-along’ with Traci and her guitar. Initially, it was for four months (until other groups started up again), but the group became so popular that Traci became a regular booking. Traci continues to entertain us with her beautiful voice and chatty style, mainly singing songs from the 1960s and 70s, but she also includes original songs and requests. Sometimes, we are lucky to have Ben join her—an accomplished guitarist who delights the group with his more ‘bluesy’ tunes.

This group is not a choir, but rather a friendly sing-along where everyone is welcome to join in as much or as little as they like—or even just shake a musical instrument!
