About
Our Story
Greenbuttercup CIC was born in May 2015, thanks to the vision of Directors Pamela Eastwood, Richard Le Peuple and Andrea Ross-Bain.
Our Community Interest Company is all about promoting ‘Independent Living’ and ‘Wellbeing’ through workshops and activities that benefit everyone in the community, especially:
- minority, disadvantaged and socially isolated groups;
- vulnerable individuals and groups;
- children and young people with additional needs;
and those who support them, like relatives and carers.
For the first five years, Greenbuttercup CIC had paid staff and volunteers working in various community areas. But everything changed with the Pandemic. Because of the nature of our work with vulnerable individuals and groups, we had to stop all face-to-face activities right away. With no idea when or if we would be able to start again, all paid staff needed to find new jobs.
During the Pandemic, our main focus was on the volunteer-run Dementia Services. We created a ‘Home Activity Programme’ that delivered activity packs every fortnight to those with Dementia living at home. As the Pandemic continued, we also extended these packs to other vulnerable groups. Monthly Dementia activity groups started up again with a limited number of participants in late 2020, but it wasn’t until September 2021 that we were back to our usual indoor programme, but with social distancing.
You can find more information about Greenbuttercup CIC, including financial and factual details, on the Companies House website.
Greenbuttercup Dementia Services
Back in 2015, Romsey Dementia Activity Group (ROMDAG) was founded, partly because Romsey was recognised as a Dementia-Friendly Town. ROMDAG is all about:
‘Helping families who are living with dementia find the right support and information, and making them feel more confident when they are out and about’.
In 2016, ROMDAG members noticed that certain activities, which research had shown to improve the lives of people with dementia, were particularly beneficial. One of these was ‘Art’, and Greenbuttercup CIC was asked to organise a fun ‘Arts & Crafts’ group in Romsey for people with dementia and their carers/relatives.
