Arts & Crafts

In October 2016, Pamela Eastwood and Andrea Ross-Bain (supported by Ian Bradford of ROMDAG) held their first ‘Arts & Crafts’ group in the Green Room at the Plaza Theatre (by kind permission of RAODS) – and it continues to take place on the first Friday of every month.  Over the years numerous people have passed through the group and its popularity now means that we often have to restrict numbers due to the available space in the Green Room.  Each session has a different ‘Have-a-Go’ activity with a completed piece of work being achieved by the end of the morning.

No experience is necessary and all levels of Dementia and/or ability can be catered for.  Activities have included: pottery, painting, printing, paperwork, cake-decorating, glass-painting, model-making and collages - using recycled materials wherever possible.

In addition to the monthly ‘Arts & Crafts’ group, over the years members have produced work which has been sold, and also displayed at events and venues in and around Romsey – such as ‘The Romsey Festival’, ‘One Romsey’, Mayflower MAST Theatre, Plaza Theatre, The Army Flying Museum, University of Winchester’s Art Gallery, Romsey Methodist Church’s Christmas Tree Festival, Dementia Action Week Art Exhibition, DemFest, Romsey’s Lantern Parade and Romsey’s display of ‘Knitted Bollard Covers’.
