Friday, August 20th, Visit to Gilbert’s Dahlia Field, Sherfield English

Friday, August 20th, Visit to Gilbert’s Dahlia Field, Sherfield English

We will be making a return visit to Gilbert’s Nursery in Sherfield English to visit the glorious Dahlia Field.  This will be the start of their season, but with all the hot weather we’ve been having, they will probably start flowering early this year.  We will have tea/coffee and a scone whilst we are there.

Please meet at the nursery at 10.30a.m.  If you need transport let us know and we will sort a lift.  We also need to know numbers for the tearoom.

There is the usual £4 per person charge for this event to include the refreshments.

Friday July 31st, ‘Bubbleologist’ at Abbotswood Court Care Home

Friday July 31st, ‘Bubbleologist’ at Abbotswood Court Care Home

‘Yes’ there is such a thing !  We first met him in 2022 and Abbotswood Court Care home have booked him to entertain us again.  As you can imagine it’s all about making bubbles of different shapes and sizes.  Last time there was an opportunity for us to also have a go.  This will be an AFTERNOON event starting at 2.30p.m.  Abbotswood Court Care Home will also provide us with some light refreshments.

There is no charge for this event, but we need to give them numbers.

Friday July 17th, Romsey Festival Exhibitions in the Abbey

Friday July 17th, Romsey Festival Exhibitions in the Abbey

We will meet at 10.30a.m. by the Abbey door in the South Garth - NOT the main entrance as there are steps to negotiate there.  Please leave plenty of time as it’s usually difficult parking on a Friday morning.  The nearest parking is by the Abbey Rooms - but don’t rely on there being any space there.

First, we will go into the Abbey to look at the Quilt Exhibition.  This is entitled ‘A House is not a Home without a Quilt’ and there are over 100 quilts displayed.  A member of Romsey Quilters will be our guide.

The ladies from Romsey Abbey catering will provide us with drinks and biscuits (remember how delicious they are!) under the trees in the South Garth at 11.320a.m.  After this there is the opportunity to look at the other exhibitions in the Abbey – Hampshire Calligraphers 2026 exhibition entitled Calligraphy “Folklore, Myth and Fable” and the Viewfinders of Romsey Camera Club annual exhibition of both prints and on-screen images.

There is the usual all-inclusive charge of £4 per person for this activity and we need to give the Abbey ladies an idea of numbers.
