Gilberts Nursery

Gilberts Nursery

Our final outing of the summer was to Gilberts Nursery to see the Dahlia Field and have a cream tea.  Unfortunately, the flowers were not as stunning as in previous years due to the lack of water, but there was still plenty to look at with hundreds of dahlias of all shapes, sizes and colours coming into bloom.  About a month later, and with a bit of rain, they should look even better.  Despite the flowers not being as impressive as they can be, everyone enjoyed the morning – particularly the huge scones in the cream tea !!

Romsey Festival

Romsey Festival

In July we visited Romsey Abbey to see one of the exhibitions on show for the Romsey Festival.   A member of Romsey Quilters introduced us to the exhibition and then members had chance to wander around the Abbey marvelling at the 100+ quilts on display.  Afterwards we had coffee and biscuits served to us under the trees in the Abbey’s South Garth by the ladies of Romsey Abbey Catering.  What a relaxed and inspiring morning it was - and so full of colour.

Summer Outings

This year we had good weather for all our Summer outdoor activities and it wasn’t too hot either.

Adventure Golf

In June we played Adventure Golf at Romsey Rapids, which was a first for us.  We put up a gazebo and members could play as little or as much golf as they wished – or sit chatting under the gazebo if they preferred.  Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy it …. so this may well become a fixture in our summer calendar.
